  • Welcome to Grin & Share It's new blog! My name is Tessa, and I'm a professional photographer in gorgeous San Diego, California.

    Grin & Share It was born in January of 2008, thanks to the support of my family & friends who encouraged me to follow my dreams. I am an on location photographer who simply adores what I do. My style is a mix of both posed & candid shots, and I personally touch every single image that is given to my clients.

Lily is One!!

This blue eyed beauty was a very good sport for us during her session!  Up until the day of her session we had been having some amazing San Diego Winter weather and then bam, the day of her session the temperature must have dropped 20 degrees.  Luckily Ms. Lily didn’t seem to be too bothered by it, and was more upset that we kept changing her clothes:)  The last photos of the day were smash cake photos and I have never seen a baby dig into a cake like she did.   She would grab two gigantic handfuls and then shake her hands around so that cake went flying everywhere.  LOVE it!!!!

Valentine’s Day Minis

You asked, so I’m giving!  Grin & Share It’s Valentine’s Day Sofa Session Minis are back, and this year I’ve got some fun new props, decorations, and that little beauty down there…

Once again these minis are for the kiddos only, and are short & sweet at 10 minutes long.  Ten minutes is plenty of time for me to get photos of all of the kids together & indivdually!  As always, a CD of your high-resolution images is included as well as an online gallery for you to share with your family & friends.   New this year, you will also receive one (1) Valentine’s Day card with the image from your session of your choice (Valentine’s Day card is a jpg file that you can get printed at the lab of your choice).  These are perfect to send to family & friends, or why not skip the store bought cards this year and give personalized cards to your kiddo’s classmates!!  Additional cards will be available to purchase.

Mine on Monday

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Mine on Monday post, and even longer since I’ve done a Me on Monday post.  So in keeping with my goal of blogging more this year, and not only about my sessions, I give you my first Mine on Monday post of 2012!

Back in November, for the 1st time since Genevieve was born, we had family photos taken.  I was very excited for this shoot because my friend and fellow female photog extraordinaire, Kristina Chartier, was doing our session.  I was lucky enough to trade sessions with her, and spent most of the day preparing my 41 year old self for our pictures.  I think this is why it’s SO important for photographers to be in FRONT of the camera now and then… if for no other reason but to be reminded of just how much work it takes a family (our clients) to prepare for a portrait session.  I had my hair done, makeup applied professionally, then ran home to get myself, Joel, and the girls dressed in the outfits I had so carefully planned out for months.  Jeesh, I was exhausted before the session even started.

I have to say that Kristina is a rock star because Genevieve literally cried 90% of the session.  She did NOT want her picture taken, kept repeating “bye bye” over and over again, and we tried everything to make her happy.  BUT, we got some amazing images, and I am thrilled that my girls will have pictures with me actually in them to enjoy when they are older!  Thank you Kristina!!

And because the #1 question I get asked before a session by my clients is, “what should we wear”.  Below is the information on our outfits and where to find great clothes for your next photo shoot with me…

Happy New Year!

I am not one to make personal New Year’s resolutions.  For me it would probably be the same things year after year anyway… lose some weight, work out more, spend more quality time with my husband.  Then there’s the work resolutions, shoot more for me, be better about updating my website, get organized, and BLOG!  I can’t say “blog more” because I was so bad in 2011 that the resolution should just plain be blog, blog blog blog.  So I’m not calling this a resolution, but I am one of those people who like the idea of a New Year, a clean slate, and so my goal for 2012 is to Blog.   Not only my sessions, but a bit more about myself & my family (remember Mine on Monday?), before & afters of my images, tricks & tips, etc. 

So I’m going to start today, by blogging my first session of 2012.  I had planned to start blogging on January 1st with a few of my favorite images of 2011, or maybe a slide show, but as you can see it’s already January 5th and if this had been a resolution, I would have already failed;)

Oh yes, about my 1st session of 2012…  it was with Mark & Molly.  These two are expecting their first baby early next month, and are so excited.  Molly has been glowing her entire pregnancy, and the way that Mark looks at Molly melts my heart.  I know that they are going to be amazing parents, and their son will always feel loved.  Congratulations you two, and I can’t wait to meet him!!!!
